Wild, Edible & Medicinal Plants (5.18.2024)

  • Piked Antler Project, LLC 29 Rose Hill Drive Clyde, NC 28721 USA (map)

On May 18, 2024, prepare to receive easily digestible information that can be promptly applied. This course is centered on the identification and utilization of edible and medicinal plants found in the wilderness.

Our emphasis lies on practical knowledge that can be directly applied in outdoor settings, rather than theoretical knowledge for home use. While some of the plants covered may have medicinal properties that can be utilized at home, our approach focuses on understanding these plants in their natural environment.

Participants will learn about a variety of plants that can be consumed immediately upon harvesting, as well as those that can be processed by hand for medicinal purposes. In essence, this course equips individuals with the knowledge of edible plants and medicinal resources readily available in the wilderness.

While we will touch upon the process of creating medicine at home, our primary focus is on field-ready food and medicine. It is important to note that this course does not require memorization of Latin names or specialized plant terminology. We do not delve into homesteading practices, but rather emphasize simple foraging techniques.

The duration of the class is 4 hours with scheduled breaks every hour.

Participants are advised to bring writing materials, snacks, sunscreen, and a hat.
